Chemical peels can really resurface the skin getting rid of numerous imperfections. The depth of the peel will be discussed during the initial consultation on the day. This will depend on a number of factors including the skin problems you wish to be addressed. A light chemical peel removes the outer layer of skin (epidermis) and is used to treat fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone, and dryness. A medium chemical peel removes skin cells from the epidermis and from portions of the upper part of your middle layer of skin (dermis) and is used to treat wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. A deep chemical peel removes skin cells even deeper and is recommended for deeper wrinkles, scars, or precancerous growths. Deeper chemical peels offer more-dramatic results but also take longer to recover from. Chemical peels can cause various side effects, including redness and purging so you may need to allow for some downtime.
